What to see in Catania, our suggestions:

  • The classic city tour starts from Piazza Duomo and the Cathedral that houses the St. Agatha’s relics, patron saint of the city, and Vincenzo Bellini.

  • A short distance away you will find the famous Four Corners of Catania, Via Etnea which crosses Via San Giuliano, on the left is Minoriti Palace, seat of the provincial and prefecture and the Church of the Friars Minor.

  • Going on through the beautiful baroque street you’ll reach Piazza Stesicoro, the Bellini’s monument t, the Roman amphitheater from the second century AD and the church of San Biagio, built on the site of the martyrdom of St. Agatha.

  • Still going on Etnea Street stands the beautifull Palazzo delle Poste and Villa Bellini, whose garden is embellished with fountains, trees and statues of famous men in Catania, including Giovanni Verga.

  • You can visit the Castle Ursino in Piazza Federico II and its interesting Museum, as well as Via Crociferi, enriched with sumptuous Baroque churches and palaces eighteenth century: along this road are the bow and the Church of St. Benedict, Church of St. Francis Borgia, the former Jesuit College which houses the Art Institute and the Church of San Giuliano.

  • Among the wonders of the baroque of Catania also notice Biscari Palace with its splendid frescoes and rooms still used for parties and weddings of luxury.

Catania's market

The markets of Catania are similar as smells, tastes and colors to Islamic souks and for this reason became a tourist attraction.

Near to the famous fish market, enjoys an excellent reputation also the historic Market of Carlo Alberto Square, called "The Monday's Fair" even if it takes place every day.

At the Carlo Alberto square's market you will find typical products of handicrafts and new and used clothing, as well as the Sunday's flea market.
